Putting the computing power that runs the desktop in a Pulsant data centre offers massive benefits in operational flexibility, centralised IT management and support, and scalable computing power.
Reduce IT costs – Desktop computers require significant CapEx up front, as well as on-going hardware support costs and the need for IT staff to perform regular patching and to maintain up-to-date desktop images. Poorly maintained desktops often leave you open to hidden expenditure, for example by a poor end-user experience resulting in lack of productivity and effectiveness.
Cloud Desktop can significantly reduce costs and improve ROI. Users can connect to the Desktop via existing PC infrastructure, thin-client devices, or a hybrid of the two (typically dictated by your hardware refresh cycle).
Users can work effectively from multiple sites – Pulsant Cloud Desktop allows users to connect from anywhere, even using different equipment, and still see the same desktop. It doesn’t matter whether your users connect from home or office, the experience is the same.
Cloud Desktop is also ideally suited to Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) initiatives, allowing users to connect using their own equipment.
Enable business continuity plans –Cloud Desktop supports effective business continuity planning, minimising the disruption caused by a disaster. No failure of the hardware sitting on the user’s desk can affect the desktop; the user simply reconnects to the desktop from a new device or even a new location and continues working seamlessly.
Optionally, Pulsant can replicate the infrastructure to a secondary data centre, allowing a seamless switch-over and continuity of service in the event of disaster.
Improved desktop security –Because all applications and data are stored in a data centre behind multiple layers of physical and logical security, data remains secure in the event of the user’s desktop or mobile device being compromised or stolen.
Users use multi-factor authentication to obtain secure access the desktop.

Using a technology called VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure), and built on Citrix platforms, Pulsant’s Cloud Desktop hosts the user’s desktop within a secure data centre. Users access their apps and data through a low-powered “thin client” device that communicates back to the data centre where powerful servers take the load of running the desktop operating system and applications.
Pulsant takes over the deployment, configuration, and day-to-day management of the operating system to provide you with a secure, stable, and reliable desktop platform for running your business applications.
