Pulsant unveils £10 million investment in Milton Keynes datacentre to provide high-density, sovereign compute capacity to support AI transformation

Pulsant, a leading UK data centre and digital infrastructure provider, today announced the completion of a £10million investment in a new, high-density data hall in Milton Keynes.

The facility is designed to support the rapid adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced computing. The investment strengthens Pulsant’s nationwide platformEDGE™ framework, meeting growing demand for high-performance, sovereign infrastructure beyond the constrained London market.

The 1.2MW (megawatts)infrastructure expansion is purpose built to handle high-density computing tasks. These include intensive AI, machine learning and accelerated workloads - often associated with sectors such as financial services, healthcare and biotech, IT and gaming.

The Milton Keynes site offers a compelling alternative to London for UK businesses, including local tech firms, and US-based companies looking to gain a UK foothold. It’s located within the UK’s Oxford-Cambridge tech supercluster, home to businesses with 570,000 employees generating £135bn in annual turnover.

With just two milliseconds’ latency to London Docklands and Slough, the site is part of Pulsant’s national platform of 14 UK data centres interconnected by a 400Gb capable network. It opens access to 1,600+cloud services, network providers, and business partners, providing instant connectivity for global traffic routing and access to international networks.

The launch comes as the UK government commits £500 million ($674 million) to strengthening domestic AIcapabilities.1 As one of the UK’s fastest growing cities, Milton Keynes has emerged as a hub for digital innovation, with strong business networks and a thriving technology community.2

“The £10m expansion of our Milton Keynes data centre is another big investment in our digital platform to meet hunger for high density compute power,” said Rob Coupland, CEO at Pulsant. “UK digital infrastructure is facing unprecedented demand. With AI-ready capacity in short supply, bringing high performance, flexibility and choice to regional locations is critical.

“For organisations looking for ultra-low latency, international connectivity and UK sovereign compute power, Milton Keynes is a great option compared to constrained and costly London datacentres which lack the opportunity for expansion.”

He added: “Our unique platform gives local, national and international clients the flexibility to circumvent some of the risks associated with the London cluster, while maintaining high performance, resilience and connectivity.”

In meeting the surge in demand for high-performance, sovereign infrastructure, Pulsant is rolling out its high-density model to other key regions, as part of its national platformEDGE™ capabilities.
