Annual report outlines progress across environmental stewardship, investment in our people, community impact and responsible governance
Pulsant, the UK data centre and digital infrastructure platform, has published its 2025 Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Report, outlining how the company is delivering responsible growth as demand for digital infrastructure and AI continues to accelerate.
The report details continued progress across Pulsant's environmental, social and governance priorities1, underpinned by a commitment to responsible stewardship, investment in our people and strong oversight.
As digital infrastructure becomes increasingly critical to the UK economy, the sector is facing greater public scrutiny and a rapidly evolving regulatory landscape. The report outlines how the company is responding through transparent reporting, environmental sustainability initiatives, investment in our people and communities, and robust governance and assurance frameworks.
The report highlights environmental progress including more than 1,800MWh of energy savings delivered through infrastructure upgrades and optimisation programmes, a 20 per cent reduction in like-for-like electricity-related emissions, and continued procurement of 100% renewable electricity backed by Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin (REGOs).
It also details continued investment in leadership development, apprenticeships, wellbeing initiatives and inclusion and belonging programmes, alongside community engagement through volunteering and charitable activities across the UK.
Rob Coupland, Chief Executive Officer of Pulsant, said: “Digital infrastructure underpins an increasing part of everyday life, from public services and business operations to emerging technologies such as AI. As demand grows, so too does the responsibility on businesses like ours to act as trusted stewards of critical infrastructure and the wider impact it has on people, communities and the environment.
“I am proud of the progress our team has made across our environmental, social and governance priorities. That progress reflects the values that have long guided Pulsant: investing in our people, supporting the communities we serve, operating sustainably, and maintaining the governance and accountability our clients expect from us.
“As our sector faces increasing scrutiny and a growing regulatory landscape, transparency and trust matter more than ever. This report sets out both the progress we have made and the challenges we continue to address as we pursue long-term, responsible growth.”
Helen Munro, Head of Environment & Sustainability at Pulsant, said: "Data centres are becoming increasingly visible, and with that comes important questions about energy, water and resource use. We welcome that scrutiny because it creates opportunities for more informed and transparent conversations about the role digital infrastructure plays in modern society.
"While metrics matter, sustainability is ultimately about taking a long-term view: protecting and adapting existing infrastructure where possible, building for genuine demand, working collaboratively with communities and ensuring decisions are guided by both innovation and responsibility."
