What were you doing prior to joining Pulsant - and why did you decide to join us?
Prior to joining Pulsant, I worked as a Graduate Electrical Engineer at a consultancy firm, where I focused on data centre design with an electrical bias.
I decided to join Pulsant because I believe my engineering background aligns well with the technical demands of the role, and I saw an opportunity to apply and further develop my skills in a more hands‑on, operational setting. Pulsant also offered a career path that better fits my long‑term goals. Additionally, the company’s values resonate with my own principles, which made the decision to join feel like the right step for my professional growth.
What do you do in an average day in your role?
On an average day as a Mechanical & Electrical Engineer, I focus on ensuring that all critical infrastructure equipment on-site is operating safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with standards. My daily tasks include carrying out routine inspections and walk‑arounds to complete checklists for all equipment, identifying any issues early, and ensuring the site remains fully operational.
I also manage and schedule planned preventive maintenance (PPM) as well as corrective maintenance activities. Part of my role involves supporting upgrades and replacements of end‑of‑life equipment to maintain system reliability and improve performance. Overall, my day revolves around maintaining uptime, ensuring compliance, and keeping the site running smoothly.
What types of infrastructure are you working with?
Equipment such as Generators, Fire suppression and detection systems, UPS, CRAH units (Cooling System), Building Management System and CCTV.
What do you enjoy most about your role and what is most challenging?
What I enjoy most about my role is working with contractors and engaging in technical discussions. Asking questions and learning from their expertise helps me deepen my knowledge and improve my understanding of the systems on-site.
The most challenging part is coordinating schedules between Pulsant and the contractors. It requires aligning availability, agreeing on timings, and ensuring that all work fits within operational requirements. Although it can be difficult to balance both sides, I always manage to organise it effectively and ensure the work gets completed smoothly.
What opportunities have you had to learn or develop in your role at Pulsant?
Pulsant has been very supportive in providing both internal and external training opportunities. Since joining, I’ve been able to complete several important courses that have strengthened my skills as an M&E Engineer. These include:
All these courses are highly relevant to my role, and having access to this level of training has helped me grow technically and become more confident in managing critical infrastructure on-site.
