Managed hosting specialist provides bespoke platform for new group portal
Virgin continues to innovate online, launching its new community-focused Virgin.com site, hosted by DediPower. The hosting and datacentre solutions provider has been tasked with ensuring Virgin’s flagship website maintains uptime, as its traffic substantially increases following a site refresh. The new site has also launched the global Virgin social network.
The site will act as a gateway to over 50 of the Virgin companies, directing traffic to their individual sites. The new portal adopts the best practices of social media sites, allowing users to create a profile, post comments, rate content, meet other users and converse with the various Virgin companies. Virgin.com also launches with Facebook Connect, allowing users to publish their actions to their Facebook News Feed.
DediPower is providing Virgin.com with custom-built dedicated servers and managed hosting within its datacentres. This is supported by a world-class hosting infrastructure that has been designed to ensure the highest levels of network uptime, availability, flexibility and security. Focused on delivering support with passion, DediPower offers one of the best service level agreements in the industry today and is a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner and RedHat Ready Hosting Partner.
“We selected DediPower, as we felt its brand values were strongest aligned with our own,” said Nick Sanett, web development manager at Virgin.com. “They worked closely with us to understand and remedy the business challenges we were expecting from the launch. So much so, that we now view DediPower as a key component of the Virgin.com web team. The dedication of the team was second to none and its ongoing support has certainly been a major factor in the successful launch of Virgin.com.”
Craig Martin, CEO of DediPower Managed Hosting, added: “Differentiation within the hosting sector can only come through service. Our support is underpinned by a high-level of expertise and a drive to surpass expectations of what managed hosting should entail. We look forward to continuing our role with Virgin.com, providing consultation and support as the website and its user-base inevitably grows.”
