Colocation collaboration — investment in motion

As a business that is built on delivering, managing and supporting high performing and secure IT infrastructure, we have a firm focus on innovation. This is evident in the way we develop our solutions, train our staff and invest in new technology. Our approach is especially noticeable when it comes to our 10 UK-based enterprise-class data centres. Serving a host of private and public sector customers all over the country, from London and the South, to Newcastle, Sheffield and Edinburgh, our data centres all feature tight security, resilient power supplies and environmental systems, and excellent network connectivity.

We’re keeping these sites future-focused, while making sure the needs of our customers are met now and into the coming years where the demand for infrastructure to support edge computing and IoT will increase dramatically. An example of this is our recent upgrade to our South London facility — we invested £2.1 million in updating its infrastructure, power and cooling, all to enhance monitoring, resilience and uptime for our customers.

The power of partnerships

Our drive for innovation doesn’t just apply to physical updates; we have formed strong partnerships with industry-leading vendors to ensure all aspects of our colocation, data centre and managed cloud services add value to our own business and meet the needs of our customers in terms of performance, security, uptime and compliance.

We investigated the best ways to streamline our approach to data storage in light of the explosion in data growth we’re experiencing. It was important for us to think about our current and future needs, particularly around performance and scalability.

After assessing a number of vendors, we chose Infinidat, a storage solution specialist. The project included rebuilding our storage environment and combining our three current systems into the new Infinidat solution. This included a series of Infiniboxes — enterprise storage systems designed with speed, reliability and hyperscale capacity in mind.

We worked closely with the Infinidat solutions team to ensure the project was a success and the changeover was carried out with no disruption to our customers.

With the Infinidat solution in place, we can ensure our customers receive the best performance when it comes to backups. This includes the ability to perform large, overnight data backups within short windows.

The future is clear

One thing is certain; data will continue to increase exponentially and consequently the role of data centres will only grow in importance. What this means for us is that we will continue to invest in our data centres, in valuable partnerships and the latest technology solutions, to meet the growing data needs of our customers and the industry at large.

Watch our video to see how we’re driving performance and innovation with Infinidat’s Infinibox solution.
