2010 – Review at a Glance

A Happy New Year to one and all and may I wish for you to be most prosperous in 2011!

As we go into the New Year, I always like to take time to review some of the major activities and events that have taken place in the last year. Being involved in such a fast paced industry, you can often lose sight of the significant progress that has been made, and some of the achievements and solutions that we have delivered.

Kicking off the year we were proud to be become the Official Hosting Partner for the acclaimed BRIT Awards in its 30th Anniversary year. Supporting the BRITs with the launch of online voting and live streaming if high quality video content with vast numbers of visitors was a challenge that we full lived up to – and we are once again the Official Hosting Partner in 2011.

The culmination of the inaugural DediPower Digital Awards was next upon us and our search to find some of Britain’s best young talent in the technology field certainly delivered some amazing entries. Our congratulations went to Stuart Varrall of Fluid Pixel who had setup a media development studio specialising in mobile devices, dedicated to Flash Lite and iPhone platforms offering innovative applications, games and interfaces for mobile phones, the web and desktop computers on a customised basis.

As part of our thought leadership and market education we staged our ‘Demystifying Cloud’ event at the Science Museum in London. This was certainly an exciting day due to a chemical spill causing the evacuation of the building! In true DediPower style, we quickly worked with the situation and relocated the whole event to a local café. Unfortunately, it did mean all the visual and audio equipment which we were going to produce an online version of this, was still in the Science Museum.

Hitting the mid-point in the year saw the completion and launch of our third data centre in Reading, Thames Valley Hosting Centre 2. This additional capacity comes online less than 3 years after the launch of Thames Valley Hosting Centre 1 due to our continued growth in our full product portfolio of cloud, managed and colocation services. As with all of our facilities, it contains some of the very latest technologies combined with our 13 years of experience in the hosting market place.

Following on shortly from the launch of TVHC2, and from our already high levels of experience and success being the industry leading provider of Private Cloud solutions, we launched our Public Cloud offering incorporating all the excellent levels of service and support that you have come to expect from the truly Enterprise class solutions provided by DediPower and fully backed by our Industry Leading Service Level Agreements.

September saw the launch of our new and improved Customer Portal allowing better interaction and information to be exposed. We’re continually adding features, so if you do have anything you want to request, simply use the built in feedback tool in the top right of the Customer Portal screen.

Here at DediPower, it really is a team effort with everyone working together extremely closely to deliver on our Support with Passion culture to our customers. While our customers recognise this in our day to day interactions whether that be with our sales, solution architects, support teams or any other department we were also recognised in the Sunday Times Tech Track 100, placing 41st overall and in pole position for our category of Cloud and Managed Hosting providers. This is a great achievement and a testament to everyone here in the team and our sincerely valued customers that made this possible.

As we came to the end of the year, we had quite a number of notable moments; the launch of our Content Delivery Network covering EMEA, Asia and the Americas with local nodes strategically placed throughout the world to help improve the speed and experience of your end users by delivering your web site and content locally to your users.

In the lead up to Christmas, we held a well-attended and extremely well received after-show party to coincide with ecommerce Expo. The feedback from customers and guests was excellent and it’s certainly something we’ll be looking to do again in the future!

In closing, I can say 2010 has been one of the most successful for DediPower and our customers even during these tougher economic times and we are definitely looking forward to what 2011 holds and how we can continue to deliver excellence to our customers – always ensuring Support with Passion.
